Innovation and Your Career

Posted in Wisdom@Work, Wisdom in the World

After 6 years of monthly values-driven leadership coaching and programming at and around the UN in New York, I'm thrilled that there is a new and very exciting shift in consciousness occurring there that correlates with the same thing I see happening in careers in the commercial world. While things are moving quickly in some ways, many people are feeling overdue for a breakthrough.

I was recently invited to participate in a Round Table on innovation and transformation within the United Nations. It was part of the Social Innovation Summit, a joint venture between JP Morgan and the United Nations and sponsored by ING, Microsoft, Xerox, Cisco, Intel, Merck, American Express and others.

No matter who is behind it or where they are, transformation always boils down to individuals transforming their own work. Being there made it crystal clear that there is a new paradigm emerging and people in every sector are adapting.

My work at the UN is part time in the role of Vice President of Global Vision Institute, which provides programming, think tank services and coaching. Our mission is use coaching methodologies to promote cultural transformation so the UN can do a better job of walking its talk. More to come - watch my blog for updates.

Coaching question: Consider your own professional trajectory - what needs transformation? What feels stuck? In what ways are you already innovative? What needs innovation and what can you do about it? Is your vision and the way to realizing it clear?

Summer is the perfect time to buff up careers. The Wisdom at Work Self-Coaching Program is a powerful, deep dive into your professional life that's money-back guaranteed to create career breakthrough's.
